The Rela­tion­ship Skills Map® (RSM®) is a pos­i­tive self-assessment of emo­tional intel­li­gence skills that are essen­tial to estab­lish­ing, main­tain­ing, and enhanc­ing healthy pri­mary rela­tion­ships.   Unlike tra­di­tional mea­sures of rela­tion­ship sat­is­fac­tion and per­son­al­ity, the RSM results are related to spe­cific behav­iors that can be learned and devel­oped.   The RSM is a reflec­tive learn­ing tool and a per­sonal guide to mean­ing­ful emo­tional learn­ing and per­sonal skill devel­op­ment.  Instru­ment valid­ity, reli­a­bil­ity, and prac­ti­cal appli­ca­tions in coun­sel­ing set­tings will be empha­sized for well­ness professionals.

The RSM® coun­sel­ing ver­sion (Forms A & B) is use­ful in indi­vid­ual rela­tion­ship coun­sel­ing, con­joint cou­ples and mar­riage coun­sel­ing, and fam­ily coun­sel­ing.  The RSM® results pro­vide a pos­i­tive and strength focused begin­ning point for for­mu­lat­ing ini­tial treat­ment plans for indi­vid­u­als and/or cou­ples begin­ning psycho-educational classes or skill devel­op­ment groups.

The struc­ture of the RSM® pro­vides a pos­i­tive and prac­ti­cal frame­work for con­cep­tu­al­iz­ing healthy rela­tion­ships.  Unlike tra­di­tional mea­sures of rela­tion­ship sat­is­fac­tion and per­son­al­ity, the RSM® results are related to spe­cific behav­iors that can be learned and devel­oped.  The RSM® results help iden­tify skill strengths and areas for change and devel­op­ment.  The RSM® is a reflec­tive learn­ing tool and a per­sonal guide to mean­ing­ful emo­tional learn­ing and per­sonal skill development.
